With a rich and colorful selection, the 10th edition of COLCOA didn't disappoint, giving an accurate representation of the variety of French cinema, mostly alternating between comedies and dramas, without forgetting a light touch of provocation.

While the role of the festival is to bring French films to Hollywood's doorstep, one could however regret that there wasn't any films that truly incarnate how far French cinema can go, would it be intellectually or emotionally — Caché, probably the best film of 2005 and the controversial Irreversible embody two cinematic paths that were nowhere to be found here.

Unsurprisingly our picks were How Much Do You Love Me? and Locked Out, not because they were the best entries but because of what they represent.

In the following days, we will be publishing full reviews of: How Much Do You Love Me?, Orchestra Seats, The Black Box, In His Hands, Locked Out & Heading South.

In the meantime, check out our blog for some behind-the-scenes and a first look at these films.

The Black Box The Black Box
The Black Box is one these thrillers that aim at blurring the lines between reality and dream.

Heading South Heading South
French director Laurent Cantet leaves the cold boundaries of French society to head south, in the company of a group of middle-aged women looking for pleasure in the arms of young Haitian men.

Orchestra Seats Orchestra Seats
For his second film behind the camera actor/director Campbell Scott invites the audience to a strange universe where emotion rhymes with poetry and dream.

The Valet The Valet
The Valet is another entry in a saga based on a recurrent character François Pignon, an average Joe that French screenwriter/director Francis Veber likes to throw into the most awkward situations, as in The Dinner Game and The Closet.
