If you need to be in Los Angeles for business and need a hotel for overnight or longer, there are a great many to choose from. If you want to stay in an historic landmark, the Culver Hotel is the place. The rooms are named after such stars as Marilyn Monroe, Clark Gable, Katherine Hepburn and John Wayne. John Wayne once owned the Culver and the room that was his features a round bed. Tim Robbins is a frequent unannounced guest, so don't be surprised to get a glimpse of him. The restaurant, Munchkins, gets its name from the over boisterous parties thrown in the Culver by the Munchkin actors from the Wizard of Oz. Mary Pickford and Douglas Fairbanks, who were both silent movie stars, were among the original owners. The Hollywood Roosevelt has been renovated to include modern amenities but, as a National Landmark, it retains the historical character it has had through its existence. There are two options for dining here: one is the more casual 25 Degrees, which serves burgers, and a great steakhouse, the Dakota.

The Beverly Hills Hotel, also known as the Pink Palace, is the very same hotel that is featured on the Eagle's album cover 'Hotel California'. It has been graced by the presence of royalty and US presidents. Howard Hughes lived here for about 30 years and this was the place where Clark Gable and Carole Lombard met 'discreetly' prior to his divorce and subsequent marriage to Lombard. This is a very elegant hotel with such amenities as an Olympic-sized pool, two tennis courts, a spa, the Polo Lounge and the Fountain Coffee Shop with its very retro décor.

These are just a few of the hotels worth considering in Los Angeles. And there is much more to recommend them that room allowed. But you can get an idea of their character from the descriptions. A few others very well worth looking into are the Beverly Wilshire Hotel, the Sunset Tower Hotel and the Millennium Biltmore Hotel.
