Demo or Demolition is a solo project from Money Mark, better knows as one third of the Beastie Boys. Far from the hip-hop sounds that made him famous, this EP features 6 tracks that verge on indie rock and alt-folk. Not surprisingly the arrangements are rich and versatile as Mark is also an accomplished producer.

Knowing his contribution to one of the most influential rock/hip-hop acts, the main issue here is that this work wouldn't really stand out by itself if it were by some unknown artist. The songs aren't very original musically—you can hear Bob Dylan and The Beatles here and there—and his voice, while fair, can't compare to what a real vocalist could have done.

Not that the songs are bad: while tracks 2 & 3 are disposable, "Livid in a Madman's Hell" & "Break Open My Shells" are pretty interesting with their mix of influences, but it's not enough to make Money Mark stand out of the Beastie Boys shadow.
