Title Of Record

A far cry from being a total change of hats, Title of Record this time varies the pleasures, alternating their classic explosions of rage with melodious mid-tempo ballads with almost acoustic tones.

Even if Filter has always had a sense of melody in the middle of its fire of guitars, this time the group goes further by calming the tempo on certain pieces in order to concentrate on melody. The result is an album that’s more worked, more spread out in its range of pace, while on the last album the tracks made a single block.

In the middle of the pure and hard tracks, the excellent "The Best Things" gets noticed right away, whose somber melody is not so far removed from the best by Killing Joke. "Take A Picture" is a sharp ballad carried by acoustic guitars that is reminiscent of the gentleness of , oh yes, "Come Undone" or "Ordinary World" by Duran Duran. "Skynny" plays on the gentleness of the preceding song, but wakes you up with guitars in the chorus. "I'm Not The Only One" is an echo of "Hurt" by Nine Inch Nails that is then electrified in an enraged finale. Finally, "Miss Blue" is a surprising Arabic acoustic, probably influenced by No Quarter by Page & Plant.

Filter offers a more complete, more open album that should seduce a vast range of listeners.
