Apparently, Groove Coverage is well known enough to release a Greatest Hits, which is news to me as I had never heard of them before. While I've been listening to electronic music since the early days of synth-pop, industrial, house and rave, I've never been into mainstream dance and Ibiza-like anthems, which is where Groove Coverage stands.
Their songs are catchy, led by easy beats, melodies and feminine vocals, reminding me of songs like "What is Love?" that were pumped ad nauseam in Saint Tropez clubs a few years ago (and probably to this day).
There is no doubt that these tracks might do magic on dance floors covered with foam but they don't work on me, leaving me indifferent, as they keep recycling the same cheesy synth sounds I abhor. If you like David Getta, partying in San Francisco's Castro district or think you're cool juggling with phosphorescent plastic tubes, then this CD is definitely for you.
