What is better than an experimental electronic label…well not much if you're a fan of electronic music. And for those of us who are devout fans, we are constantly having to defend our genre of choice "no it's not repetitive", "listen a bit longer", "don't you hear that beat!?" Unfortunately there are a lot of predictably formulaic DJs out there and some of them have created their own equally boring labels.

That's why it's a relief that there are labels like F- Communications of France, a label that is constantly looking for and representing the freshest talent of electronic experimentalism. When a new label comes along pushing the envelope in the same way F-Com did in the early 90's, it's a small blessing in the rapidly growing genre.

Omega Point Records was founded in 1995 and at that time was only selling demo-cassettes in small retail stores. Luckily today, they are a full service label, representing artists that are opening more doors into the diversity of electronic music. For a sampling of their summer's finest releases check out the following:

Burton LBurton L. Spy Life
Spy Life is a compilation of edgy originality, but in a world of comparisons, I can't help but reminded of the soul-wrenching sounds of Placebo. In this unity of electro meets indie rock, Burton L., fellow club DJ mixes acoustic guitar, horns, and strings into a non-stop assemblage. Hip-hop beats work through emotional lyrics that will have you wondering when you can catch this guy live.

Corporate MFCorporate MF The Royal We
If you want synthesizer rock meets corporate irony, Corporate MF's The Royal We does with music as Office Space did for film. When the workplace has got you feeling in a rut, lyrics from experience are shot out into a winding blend of rock melodies that will get your head bobbing with a dark smile.

Ming & PingMing & Ping
The cover of their CD looks like a Dolce and Gabbana ad, but the Hong-Kong born twins Ming and Ping offer more than just chiseled good looks. The CD is rich with tracks that have you believing you've heard them before, a beautiful reminiscence of the 80's, during the birth of electro and fluid sound. Synthesizing chords blend into deeper beats and catchy lyrics making it a heavy contender for crossover material, notably "The Bright Sunlight" (track 6). What's even better is the macromedia music videos that accompany for PC and MAC; for more information visit www.mingping.com.

AvenpitchAvenpitch
On more of a funky-metal tip, Avenpitch of Minneapolis launches its debut with self-titled "Avenpitch". Music that would without a doubt rock out a crowd at the local-favorite club First Avenue of Minneapolis offers a new wave rhythm stirred with true punk. www.avenpitch.com
