Palm Beats
Volume One

Genre: Dub/World
Year: 2004
Country: USA
Official Site: Palm Beats
Details: Tracks & Audio
Label: Palm Pictures
Featuring nine tracks showcasing the various approaches of rhythm in an ethnic context, Palm Beats Volume One compiles sounds from Latin America to Africa, which blend in the general dub vibe of the CD.

Those Palm beats, at least in this first volume, could be defined as World beats, as this compilation brings us along on a musical trip which conjures up third world anthems with the robotic influence of technology.

Mexican, Brazilian, African, funk and reggae sounds flow, creating a fluid soundtrack for your chill-out or driving mood. The presence of well-known artists such as Sly & Robbie with "Capone's Theme", Sidestepper with both "Linda Manigua" & "Deja" as well as Bostich of Nortec Collective fame with the great "Solaris", certainly adds to the solidity of this compilation, complemented by the sharp works of lesser-known but talented musicians such as De Lata and Jolly Mukherjee.

Best of all this 55' CD retails for less than $7; so there is really no excuse not to succumb to those warm and multicolored beats.
