While I can understand how a band like The Muckrakers can be popular in parts of the globe such as Kentucky, this is the kind of gentle music that ostensibly makes me wanna fall asleep. Filled with nice harmonies and reminiscent of acts such as Crowded House and Hootie & the Blowfish, The Muckrakers certainly know how to pen songs with catchy choruses that ultimately fall into clichés.

Despite decent sing-along tunes à la "Hold On"—just by looking at the title, you can imagine the chorus —, these songs pass by like elevator music, never leaving the background to enter your musical psyche and even featuring a few embarrassing moments—particularly when they try to "rap".

The CD closes on a song by a guest—one of their friends—which I actually almost liked better than The Muckrakers. Again, there's nothing shameful about liking this band, but this is the type of bland production that doesn't have enough contrast or originality to catch the attention of music-savvy urbanites.
