In the vein of Barberella and Flesh Gordon, Cinderella 2000 revisits a popular Grimm Brothers tale, injecting eroticism, music and spoof in the mix, courtesy of camp master Al Adamson (Dracula vs. Frankenstein).
Set in 2047 in an Orwellian society where sex is prohibited, a beautiful and innocent slave (Catherine Erhardt) ends up finding love in the arms of a young man, which ultimately leads to a sexual revolution.
Going full-blown kitsch, from the sci-fi outfits to psychedelic dance numbers with humans dressed as fornicating rabbits, a nude woman being reduced to a miniature size by a laser and some good bare-chested woman wrestling, Cinderella 2000 has all the ingredients to be a camp classic. And it is.
A source of amusement, which wasn't made to be taken seriously, this is the kind of entertainment you could watch drunk or high with friends or screen at a party while pulsing some good electronic music. Whether you're a fan of Roger Corman or are just looking for some old-fashioned fun, Cinderella 2000 is worth the watch.
The DVD features the European version as well, an alternate opening sequence, a commentary track and some trailers.
